3 Housewives Arrested for throwing stepdaughter into well

The Kano state police command on Tuesday announced the arrest of 3 housewives for attempting to kill their rival’s daughter by throwing her in a well.

The Kano state police spokesman, DSP Magaji Majiya, who confirmed the arrest told newsmen that the girl was thrown into an old well in Gayawa village, Ungoggo Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Punch , the girl had spent two days inside the well, where she was allegedly thrown into by her step mother, a week ago.

The girl was subsequently rescued alive by men of the Kano state Fire Service.
Majiya stated that the 3 housewives were arrested in Gayawa village on Sunday after the girl’s father made a complaint to the police.

“We have arrested three women in connection with the case and they are now in our custody assisting us with our investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police, Mr Rabiu Yusuf has directed the transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department, for proper investigation,” Majiya said.

The police spokesman added that the commissioner had ordered for thorough investigation to ascertain the degree of individual involvement of each of the 3 housewives.

The suspects indicted after full investigation are to be charged to court.
If charged to court and convicted, the suspects are liable to be sentenced to life imprisonment for the attempted murder and may also bag another 14 years imprisonment each for the conspiracy to commit murder.
